Well, it bloomed very nicely and has ever since. It's getting quite late even for weigela to leaf out. I'm in coastal SE CT & I've got W&R planted in a full-sun shrub border with a globe, dwarf Colorado Blue Spruce 'Montgomery' & a Salix integra 'Flamingo' for neighbors. If you were thinking about using stone because it would be less maintenance than a bark mulch, in my experience stones over fabric are usually more work in the long run since you have to clean out anything that collects in them rather than just topping them up like you can with bark mulch. They barely bloom but the foliage is good eventually. So far I am very happy with this purchase. THen decide on a permanent home in the fall. I hope that helps!
